I arrived in Dili on exactly 14 February 2017, Valentine’s Day. For the past two years, Timor-Leste has been my home. As I arrived by plane, Timor-Leste looked dry and parched from the air. Yet, the view of the sea and the beaches is immaculate. I feel in love with Timor-Leste the first time I saw it from above. It’s even lovelier under the sea, with all the corals and the fishes. Timor-Leste is indeed an underrated destination. While visiting the country does present a high barrier cost and is quite difficult to access, Timor-Leste has so much to offer for those who dare to go off the beaten path. This is basically an eco-tourism hot spot with beautiful white sand beaches, immaculate diving sites, awesome mountain trekking, picturesque coffee plantations, and quaint Portuguese colonial towns spread around.
